Posted by Tweedle Farms on Jan 29th 2024
We’ve gotten a lot of requests for a simple CBD-infused salve that can be made at home, and we figured, what better time to post one than winter? It’s the season of achy bones, slippery ice, and for some, joy-filled sledding accidents.
(Did you just discover this post during summertime? Fear not, it’s still an awesome recipe and will work for you too!)
Now, join us as we dive into the world of therapeutic at-home infusions with a soothing, CBD-infused salve that combines our potent, Full Spectrum RSO with the natural healing power of arnica oil and the calming aroma of lavender. Designed for both the curious newcomer and the seasoned infuser, this recipe is a testament to the power of simplicity and the magic of cannabinoids.
Ingredients:
1 cup Coconut Oil
1 cup Olive Oil
4 tbsp Beeswax Pellets
3 grams of Full Spectrum RSO
4 tbsp Vitamin E Oil
20 drops Lavender Essential Oil (optional)
4 tsp Arnica Oil (optional)
Materials Needed:
Double Boiler
- If you don’t have one, don’t stress. Just use 2 pots. Boil water in one, and put the second, smaller pot in the first one. Use the second pot to melt and combine your oils.
Ladle
4 Small, 4oz Glass Jars with Lids
Directions:
Note: Our directions give the necessary steps assuming that you do not have a double boiler, because we don’t. If you do have a double boiler, just skip step 1.
Step 1
Bring your water to a boil in the bottom pot and reduce to a simmer.
Step 2
Put the second, smaller pot in the larger pot. Add the coconut oil, olive oil, and beeswax. Stir occasionally until melted.
Step 3
Reduce heat until the water is barely simmering. Add Full Spectrum RSO to your oil mixture. Stir until completely mixed.
Step 4
If using, add arnica oil.
Step 5
Remove from heat. Use your ladle to transfer your freshly-made salve into each of the small glass jars.
Step 6
Let cool for a few minutes, then spoon 1 tbsp of vitamin E oil into each jar. If using, drop 5 drops of lavender essential oil into each jar. Give each jar a little stir and let them cool, uncovered. After about 30 minutes, add a lid to each jar.
Done!
Now that you’ve made your batch of CBD-infused salve, we bet you’re wondering how much cannabinoids are in each jar.
Well, if you used the entire 3 gram tube of Full Spectrum RSO, each jar should contain ~487mg of cannabinoids.
Want to make this recipe even simpler?
The creator of RSO, Rick Simpson (for whom the extract is named), actually created the high-potency cannabinoid extract for use as a topical. He simply diluted the RSO into everclear and applied it directly to his skin. We’ve got a lot of information about Rick Simpson’s story, as well as a breakdown of how to make your own RSO using CBD flower, here.
