The Best Indica Strains of the Year

Posted by Tweedle Farms on Mar 1st 2024

This year, we've seen some standout Indica strains that have not only captured our attention but also the attention of CBD enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.

From classic cannabis strains like Tahoe OG and Bubba Kush to the highly-coveted Tweedle Farms exclusive, Bluebird, we’re going to list all the best Indica flowers below. We, however, need you to keep one thing in mind - this is not a ranking! To us, and many of our customers, every one of these strains is #1.

Before we dive in, let’s answer some frequently asked questions.

What is an Indica flower?

The word “indica” typically does not hint at a certain effect the flower strain is going to have on the user. Rather, it illustrates the way a flower will grow.

Indica hemp flower plants are short, bushy, and have very broad leaves. Because of their compact stature, they hold up well in cold, stormy weather.

That’s because indica strains are originally from the mountainous regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, where the weather is often quite cold. In fact, one of the first pure indica strains brought to the United States in the mid-20th century is called Hindu Kush; named after the Hindu Kush mountain range. Many of today’s strains of indica CBD flower are descended from these original genetics.

What is a Sativa flower?

Similar to the word “indica,” sativa is used to describe the way a cannabis plant will grow.

Sativa strains are tall and lanky. They love to stretch, and take a very long time to mature. That’s because, unlike indicas, they originate in warm, tropical climates where the growing season is a whole lot longer.

Ok, now, let’s dive in!

1. Tahoe OG

Aw, Tahoe OG. This is an incredible strain bred by Zera Farms.

Originally, Tahoe OG was solely a high-THC strain bred in… you guessed it! The Lake Tahoe region of California. Fortunately for all of us, the team at Zera Farms was able to take these storied genetics and breed out almost any trace of THC.

What was left was the amazing structure of the original cultivar, its stunningly gassy nose, and its potent cannabinoid and terpene concentration.

We’ve only had this product in stock for a few months, but it’s already a favorite of ours, as well as our customers!

2. Bubba Kush

This is, arguably, the strain of indica CBD that started it all.

Like Tahoe OG Kush, there was a time when Bubba Kush was solely a high-THC cultivar, but thanks to some great minds in Humboldt County, California and southern Oregon our industry was introduced to this strain in 2019.

A dead ringer for the THC-rich Bubba Kush that we all know and love, Bubba Kush CBD flower consistently exhibits the dense, almost rock-like structure of classic kush strains along with that sweet diesel fuel flavor and aroma.

3. Remedy

Remedy was one of the strains that originally put Tweedle Farms on the map back in 2018, and even now, it’s easy to see why.

Much like the other strains on this list, it’s very consistent. Consistently well-shaped, dense, and stinky.

That last factor is actually one of the reasons why we love working with it so much - it’s aroma! Every time we trim up some Remedy, the whole warehouse is treated to a big tropical bouquet, packed with notes mango, citrus, and delicious sweet cream.

4. Bluebird

This Tweedle Farms exclusive is a very special one. It combines three heavyweight strains—Cannatonic, Hawking Kush, and DJ Short Blueberry—into a beautifully aromatic and resinous strain of CBD flower that you can’t get anywhere else.

Last year, we didn’t grow much of this flower, so it sold out very quickly. This year, we learned our lesson and finally grew enough to satisfy demand. So, be sure to try it while it’s still around! You’ll be treated a sumptuous flavor full of rich blueberry candy, spicy plum paste, and a sharp, pungent skunkiness that will remind you that the flower is, in fact, cannabis.

5. Classic Cookies

This is another amazing strain from the great minds at Zera Farms, and at 25.7% total cannabinoids, it probably wouldn’t even need to look and smell great to be popular.

…but you know what? It does! It looks and smells awesome. The buds are big, dense, encrusted with a thick coat of shimmering resin, and extremely pungent.

If you’re familiar with the THC-rich classic, Girl Scout Cookies, then you’ll immediately recognize the aroma of fresh baked goods, acrid skunk, and all-consuming gas that emanates from this beautiful flower.

6. Velox

Rounding out this year’s list is a strain that is near and dear to hearts - Velox. We took a chance on this strain in 2022 and it paid off big time!

Velox consistently produces big, trichome-caked buds that exude a sweet, skunky, and uniquely vanilla-tinged aroma. It also consistently exhibits higher levels of cannabinoids (typically 20+% total cannabinoids and 2+% terpenes), so it’s not only a feast for the senses, but a wonderfully therapeutic pick as well!

There you have it folks, our favorite indica strains of the year!

Be sure to dig deeper into each one. We always recommend that our customers do as much research as possible before making a purchase. Check out the test results, learn about the terpene profiles, and always, reach out to us with any questions.
