CBD flower (AKA hemp flower, CBD hemp flower, cbdflower) is cannabis, plain and simple. What distinguishes it from "marijuana" is the fact that it contains almost no THC at all. Instead, it's high in the non-intoxicating cannabinoid we know and love, CBD. CBD flower can be smoked, vaped, eaten, and applied topically to consume cannabidiol (CBD), just like marijuana.
Hemp flower and marijuana have a lot in common:
- they look very similar, if not identical
- smell similar, if not the same
- come from the same species--cannabis sativa
Genetically, CBD flower and marijuana are the same. To get scientific, the differences between CBD hemp flower and marijuana play out at the level at which genes are expressed.
According to the 2018 Farm Bill, in order to be hemp flower, the plant needs to have under 0.3% THC by dried weight. That’s an extremely small amount of THC!

Here are a few important things to look for when choosing your ideal strain of cbdflower:
Terpenes
Terpenes are volatile aromatic compounds that are found across the natural world. They play a valuable role in keeping predators away as well as attracting pollinators. They also can help YOU find your perfect strain. At they say - the nose knows.
Trichomes
Caked across the surface of CBDflower, you’ll find trichomes, which are structures of hardened resin loaded with terpenes and cannabinoids. Examine your cbdflower closely, and you'll even be able to see the trichomes with the naked eye.
In order to maintain the integrity of the trichomes, and therefore the overall integrity of the hemp flower, the hemp plants need to be kept free from pests and pathogens. Unfortunately, many unscrupulous cbdflower growers will do this with harsh pesticides and herbicides.
- These chemicals will reduce trichome levels and quality.
- Because hemp flower is super absorbent, these harmful chemicals will end up in you.

Trichome content also reveals how well the hemp flower was handled and stored. The harvest process typically entails:
- cutting the hemp plant
- removing the buds
- Hang drying or rack drying
- curing the hemp bud for the right amount of time in optimal conditions
Understandably, there's a lot of room for error in that process!
Finally, it's important to know that trichomes break down with time and when exposed to heat and light. If stored correctly, hemp flower can remain in good condition for well over a year. If stored incorrectly, you'll be left with brown, flavorless flower that is largely devoid of terpenes.

Smoking It
The most common way to consume hemp flower is by rolling and smoking it. And with high-quality hemp flower, this can be quite enjoyable.
The process is simple: put the CBD hemp flower in a grinder and roll it. You can even buy the grinder and rolling paper from Tweedle Farms!

Vaping It
Vaping and smoking are similar. The CBD flower is quickly decarboxylated and activated by the heat, and the resins with all the active ingredients evaporate into the air and are inhaled into your lungs.
The main difference is that vaping doesn't heat hemp flower enough to create combustion, which is the chemical process that releases many of the toxic compounds and free radicals that make smoking bad for you.
For this reason, vaping is preferred by people who are concerned about any adverse health effects associated with smoking. The key is that vaping heats the hemp flower to 350° - 430°F (180 - 220° celsius).
Infusing It
You can infuse CBD into coconut oil and butter so that you can incorporate it into your cooking.

CBD Oil (tinctures)
To use CBD oil, you just drop it under the tongue. Dosage recommendations don't vary much but do depend on the personal preferences of the consumer.
