Our cbd hemp flower is grown without any kind of pesticides, sprays, or synthetic fertilizers.
Hemp flower (AKA CBD flower, CBD hemp flower) is suitable for more than just being turned into milk, rope, and clothes. In fact, hemp flower can also be smoked, vaped, eaten, and applied topically to consume cannabidiol (CBD), just like marijuana.
Hemp flower and marijuana have a lot in common:
- they look the same
- smell the same
- come from the same species--cannabis sativa
Genetically, CBD flower and marijuana are almost indistinguishable. The differences between CBD hemp flower and marijuana play out epigenetically (the level at which genes are expressed).
According to the 2018 Farm Bill, to be legally classified as hemp flower, the cannabis plant needs to have under 0.3% THC content by dried weight. That’s a negligible amount of THC, although we can’t guarantee you’ll pass a drug test.
CBD flower is used to make everything from CBD oil (tinctures) to CBD chapstick. CBD can also be consumed by smoking or vaping. Irrespective of how you get your CBD, though, if you’re expecting to buy hemp flower, you need to make sure that the hemp product you're ordering is explicitly called “hemp.”
If the CBD flower isn't explicitly called "hemp,” then dig deep into the site or even reach out directly because you could end up breaking local state laws. Tweedle Farms lays everything out clearly. With us, you only get the highest-quality CBD hemp flower!
There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing CBD flower to smoke or vape to consume CBD.
Terpenes
Terpenes are aromatic oils that have a strong smell and flavor. Their role in nature is to keep predators away and to attract pollinators; they should also be one of the key ways people decide which strain of CBD hemp flower to consume.
The more pungent the smell of your CBD flower, the higher the quality; that’s why we put so much effort into the art of describing the aroma of all strains of our hemp flower.
Cannabis can smell like cinnamon, citrus, hops, lavender, nutmeg, rosemary, and more! The ratio of the many different terpenes in cannabis determines the smell, which is why some cannabis smells like chocolate, and other cannabis smells like citrus.
Steer clear of cannabis that smells moldy or musty. That often means it hasn't been processed correctly or was possibly stored incorrectly.
Trichomes
Protruding from the surface of CBD hemp flower, you’ll find trichomes, structures of hardened resin that contain terpenes and cannabinoids. Take a close enough look at the flower from a hemp plant, and you'll even be able to see the trichomes. The more trichomes you see, the better, especially if they're densely packed. That means the hemp flower was handled delicately from cultivation, to harvest, to packaging.
CBD flower needs to be kept free of insects, disease, and stress for good trichome levels.
However, this needs to be done without pesticides, sprays, or synthetic fertilizers for two reasons.
- These chemicals will reduce trichome levels and quality.
- Because hemp flower is super absorbent, these harmful chemicals will end up in you.
For these reasons, Tweedle Farms only sells CBD hemp flower grown without pesticides, sprays, or synthetic fertilizers.
High trichome content also reveals how well the hemp flower was handled and stored after harvesting. That's because hemp processing is quite demanding and entails:
- cutting down the hemp plant
- removing the flower buds from the plants' tops
- Hang or rack drying
- curing the hemp bud for the perfect amount of time
That's a lot of opportunity for damage!
Additionally, sometimes manufacturers will remove some trichomes to make other CBD products. So, if your trichomes are intact, that means your CBD flower was raised with love!
Finally, trichomes break down with time. If stored correctly, hemp flower can remain in good condition for over a year. If stored incorrectly, the trichomes break down much faster. Ideally, the hemp flower you buy should have been stored in a temperature and humidity controlled environment, like ours is.
Reviews
Reviews are a great way to tell which hemp flower to buy. Tweedle Farms has reviews on Trustpilot, Google reviews, Facebook, and Reddit.
You can read in-depth commentary on each hemp strain.
Don't Forget Other Cannabinoids
CBD isn't the only cannabinoid in CBD flower. There's also CBC (cannabichromene), CBG (cannabigerol), and CBN (cannabinol). Which of these is important to you depends on your personal preferences.
Bud Moisture and Seeds
Bud Moisture
While harder to consider when shopping online, moisture and seeds play an essential part in your hemp flower quality-the fresher and more humid the hemp flower, the better the flavor and less harsh the smoke.
If you do happen to get some dried-out hemp flower, you can rehydrate it. We package all of our flower in Terploc bags, WITH Boost packs. Terploc bags ensure that cannabinoids and terpenes are not degraded. In fact, they can increase slightly as time goes on through the process of curing.
Bud Seeds
A hemp flower plant comes in two sexes: male flowers that produce pollen and female flowers that produce seeds. Only female plants are used for hemp products since that's where the CBD rich resin is found. Female plants kept far from male flowers won't produce seeds.
High-quality hemp flower will be mostly seedless, which is good news because seeds make hemp flower heavier (and, therefore, pricier), have no positive benefits, can ruin the flavor, and can lead to nausea if enough of them are smoked.
Poor quality hemp flower will require that you pick out all the seeds, although you’ll never have to do that with hemp flower bought from Tweedle Farms.
Smoking It
The most common way to consume hemp flower is by rolling and smoking it. And with high-quality hemp flower, this can be quite enjoyable.
The process is simple: put the CBD hemp flower in a grinder and roll it. You can even buy the grinder and rolling paper from Tweedle Farms!
Tweedle Farms has a 4-piece zinc grinder. It has a magnetized lid, pollen catcher, and screen cleaner, so your hemp flower comes out perfect for rolling without making a mess.
We also have organic hemp rolling papers branded with the logo of your favorite farm.
We also sell pre-rolled joints and small flower buds.
Vaping It
Vaping and smoking are similar. The CBD flower is quickly decarboxylated and activated by the heat, and the resins with all the active ingredients evaporate into the air and are inhaled into your lungs.
The main difference is that vaping doesn't heat hemp flower enough to create combustion, which is the chemical process that releases many of the toxic compounds and free radicals that make smoking bad for you.
For this reason, vaping is preferred by people who are concerned about any adverse health effects associated with smoking. The key is that vaping heats the hemp flower to 350° - 430°F (180 - 220° celsius).
Infusing It
You can infuse CBD into coconut oil and butter so that you can incorporate it into your cooking.
Our CBD shake is perfect for that. Shake is the name for the small buds, leaves, kief, and plant matter at the bottom of your bag of CBD.
CBD Oil (tinctures)
To use CBD oil, you just drop it under the tongue. Dosage recommendations don't vary much but do depend on the personal preferences of the consumer.
For the uninitiated, we advise starting with half a dropper. For regular users, beginning with a full dropper may be better. Experimentation is essential to find the dosage just right for you.
Our CBD oils (and concentrates) are third-party tested by an unaffiliated, state-accredited lab using industry-approved methods to verify cannabinoid content and the absence of harmful chemicals.
In general, you shouldn't buy any CBD oil or concentrate that isn't third-party tested.
CBD Concentrate
CBD concentrate is extracted CBD that's distilled for extra potency for rapid access to CBD.
Our high-CBD wax is made from broad-spectrum distillate and pure, steam-distilled terpenes extracted from US-grown hemp flower and plant sources.
CBD Edibles
For those who don't want to smoke or dislike the taste of CBD oil, we have various CBD edibles: gummies, sublingual tablets, and capsules.
CBD Topicals
CBD can also be consumed as topicals. Tweedle Farms carries CBD Bath Bombs, a muscle rub, massage oil, transdermal relief spray, a relief stick, and transdermal CBD lotion.
Clothing
Hemp is also a versatile textile. Two of our Ts are made from 55% hemp for a sustainable alternative to cotton!
